🌿 Welcome to the September A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop!
What happens when you take a Paper Pumpkin kit… and decide the instructions are simply a starting point? 😉✂️

This month we’re creating with the Kindred Greetings Paper Pumpkin Kit, and instead of stopping with the beautiful monochromatic cards included in the kit, I decided to see where else those gorgeous supplies could take me.
The result?
A fun fold card with plenty of dimension, a little unexpected architecture, and—of course—a healthy dose of PaperTales creative chaos. 😂
The Kindred Greetings Kit is filled with elegant card elements designed for heartfelt messages of comfort and appreciation. I loved the soft color palette, textured pieces, and beautiful coordinating designs, and they immediately had me wondering…
What else could these pieces become?
So naturally, I started cutting, folding, experimenting… and eventually created my own little Paper Pumpkin alternative!
🌿Welcome to the Creative Hub
Here’s what you’ll find below (besides a little creative chaos):
This is a place where cozy creativity meets the moments that matter most – with a little bit of shenanigans sprinkled around.

If you’re new to the hop, A Paper Pumpkin Thing is all about taking our monthly Paper Pumpkin kits and creating something outside the box—literally!
Instead of simply assembling the projects exactly as designed, we take those same kit supplies and stretch our creativity to see what else we can make.
Each project in this hop features the monthly Paper Pumpkin Kit along with coordinating Stampin’ Up! products.
I’m Mikki Winebrenner from Iowa, and you’ve landed here at the PaperTales Creative Hub!

🌿 Thinking Outside the Kit
One of the things I love most about Paper Pumpkin is that every kit is filled with possibilities.
Yes, the instructions give us beautiful projects to create…
But sometimes I look at all those die cuts, card bases, patterned pieces, and embellishments and think:
“Hmmmm… what else could I make with this?” 🤔😂

That’s exactly what happened with the Kindred Greetings Kit.
The beautiful soft colors and leafy elements inspired me to create something with a little more dimension and movement.
I wanted a project that would still showcase those gorgeous pieces from the kit but give them a completely different purpose.
After a little experimenting—and probably more folding than originally planned 😂—my project started to come together..

🍃 Woodland Pop-Up Easel Card
For this month’s project, I created a dimensional Woodland Pop-Up Easel Card using pieces from the Kindred Greetings Paper Pumpkin Kit.
The card opens into a fun dimensional display featuring the beautiful leafy elements from the kit, creating a project that feels completely different from the original card designs.
I especially love how the different layers allow the greenery and images to create depth across the card.

And that center sentiment?
“Sending my whole heart at a time when words fall short.”
Honestly, it couldn’t be more perfect for the Kindred Greetings theme. 💚
This project is a great reminder that you don’t always need an entirely new collection of supplies to create something different.
Sometimes you just need to look at what you already have…
…and start folding things in questionable directions. 😂✂️

I’ve put together the measurements and instruction so you can recreate this fun fold for yourself!

I absolutely love seeing how everyone can start with the same kit and somehow end up with completely different projects.
That’s the magic of creativity. ✂️💚

💭 Before You Go…
If you’re a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, I want to know:
Are you someone who…
📦 Makes the projects exactly as designed?
OR
✂️ Looks at the kit and immediately starts wondering what else you can make with it? 😂
I tend to fall somewhere in the second category.
One of my favorite things about Paper Pumpkin is knowing that you don’t have to stop with what’s pictured on the box. Sometimes the best projects happen when you look at those supplies and think:
“Okay… but what happens if I do THIS?” 😂
And sometimes it works beautifully. Other times… well, that’s just part of the creative process. 🤣 Either way, it’s always worth experimenting.
Until next time…
Keep creating. Keep experimenting. And never be afraid of a little creative chaos. 💚🫶🏻
Happy crafting—and happy hopping!
