I’m excited to share two creative alternative projects using the February 2026 – Celebrate Spring – Paper Pumpkin Kit from Stampin’ Up!
🌿Welcome to the Creative Hub
Here’s what you’ll find below (besides a little creative chaos):
This is a place where cozy creativity meets the moments that matter most – with a little bit of shenanigans sprinkled around.

If you’re new to the hop, APPT is all about taking our monthly Paper Pumpkin kits and creating something outside the box — literally! Instead of just assembling the kit as designed, we stretch our creativity and see what else we can make using the kit supplies.
Each project in this hop features the March kit with coordinating Stampin’ Up! products. I am Mikki Winebrenner from Iowa, and you have landed here on the PaperTales Creative Hub. Scroll down to the bottom for the full list of participating blogs and you can explore all the creative alternatives.

🌀 Real Life Craft Desk Moment

Before the magic happens… there’s usually a moment that looks like this.
- Paper pieces everywhere.
- Tools wandering off the table.
- Stamp blocks hiding under cardstock.
This is what thinking outside the box with a Paper Pumpkin kit actually looks like at my craft table.
A little creative chaos, a lot of ideas, and eventually something fun comes together.
Instead of creating the cards exactly as designed, I used the kit elements to create two fun fold card designs. No official names here (because honestly… I just start folding and see what happens 😅), but both designs are a fresh way to stretch your kit and try something a little different.

Floating Frame Fun Fold

This design creates a beautiful layered “floating” effect with a center panel that pops forward when the card is opened. The hummingbird elements draw your eye right into the middle, making it feel dimensional without being complicated. It’s a fun way to take the kit pieces and turn them into something a little more interactive and eye-catching.
Layered Panel Fold

This card keeps things a bit simpler but still adds interest with layered panels and soft color blending. The focal hummingbird and sentiment bring everything together while letting the background shine. It’s an easy way to elevate the kit design while still keeping that clean, elegant look.
The Fluttering Garden kit is full of soft colors and stunning hummingbird imagery, which made it perfect for experimenting while still ending up with something elegant and eye-catching.
Note from the exhausted under caffeinated Mom me:
I’ll be adding more details, templates, and a full step-by-step PDF for these designs soon — but right now time is not on my side and my brain has officially clocked out 😅 Check back soon when I’m fully caffeinated and making better life choice

Try Thinking Outside the Box – Embrace the chaos
This is one of my favorite ways to craft — taking something simple and turning it into something uniquely yours.
I hope these projects inspire you to take your kits and try creating something a little outside the box too!

Mikki, I absolutely love how your post encourages thinking outside the box rather than just following the kit instructions to the letter. The idea of using printable templates to recreate these fun folds makes the creative process so much more accessible for those who want to experiment with the supplies. It’s such a refreshing approach to turning the Fluttering Garden kit into a canvas for true personal expression.
Two lovely cards! I’m hoping to find your PDF so I can buy the supplies and make these.
Hi Kay, the PDF file is uploaded and there is a link at the bottom of the post. If you have trouble finding it sent me an email and I will send you the direct file.
I love how you’ve pushed the boundaries of the Fluttering Garden kit by moving beyond the standard instructions to create these unique fun folds. The printable templates and PDF instructions are a huge plus, making it easy for others to explore their own creative twists with the supplies. It’s inspiring to see how the hummingbird elements can be adapted for different spring sentiments beyond just Mother’s Day.
I love how this blog hop encourages creativity beyond the kit instructions—those fun fold card designs really show the versatility of the Fluttering Garden collection. The idea of exploring alternative projects while still honoring the theme is so inspiring, especially for someone like me who loves to put my own spin on creative challenges. Thanks for sharing these fresh takes and printable resources!
