Now that we covered all the details last week let’s put these supplies into action. How to use the supplies you just purchased or already had in stock is an excellent starting point. To help with this I have a couple videos shared by the home office and a video I created for you that includes a quick simple card using Stamps, Ink and Paper (remember that SIP reference?)

Stampin’ Up! has created a few video’s throwing things back to the beginning, kind of like I have done but on a much grander scale. I will be sharing these videos with you as we go along for extra reference and well let’s all be honest, they are the professionals!

The first video I am sharing is “How to prepare your Stamp Pad”, something I never really thought to explain. The Classic Stampin’ Pads come with stickers on the back and this videos shows where to place them.

That last blank sticker they put on the inside of the pad may not seem important now but down the road it will definitely come in handy! When you use multiple colors on a project, that little strip helps identify the colors while they are open. This is especially useful when you are working with monochromatic colors!

Speaking of monochromatic, did you know that Stampin’ Up! offers a cute little Color Coach to help with choosing colors?

The Color Coach is perfect with helping identify colors and coordinating colors. The reverse side of this color wheel has a quick reference to color theory! This is a must have in every craft room. I like to think my color theory knowledge is pretty good but I find myself grabbing that wheel frequently to find some inspiration!

I have a few other tips and tricks with helping on the color front but thats a discussion for another day!

The next video I am going to share is regarding the Paper Trimmer and how to cut and score your paper with it. I’m so glad this video is available as I was struggling with how to demonstrate this to you!

As you see in the video there are a lot of different sizes of card bases out there. That’s the beauty of making your own card, you can choose the size to create for a specific need! Here is a quick reference I pulled from Pinterest for you showing different common card sizes.

Now that we have covered the base of the card and prepared our ink pads, let’s move on to the fun of the stamp sets and how to use them.

I could sit here and chat away explaining the details for you but I’ll admit I get ahead of myself and let’s face it, words are hard sometimes! With that said, I am skipping the boring bits of typing this all up and just going to make this simple and SHOW you!

The video only has background music playing. Pause the video for any information you may need to write down. If you would like more details on the cards designed in this video, please let me know and I will share! I believe I covered most of the information for them at the end of each section.

I think this is a great place to stop. Go forth Card Queens and create! Please share your creations with us on my Facebook page! I love to see what you have made and everyone can use the inspiration!

I’ll be back – hopefully on time – Sunday with more Stamping 101 content for you. I think we need to cover a little color theory and some of those tip and tricks I referred to earlier! If there is anything specific you are looking for please let me know in the comments or send me your questions privately.

Please remember this is a safe space to ask questions! You never know if your question is one another person has but is afraid to ask it. My grandpa use to tell us: “The only stupid question is the question not asked.” ASK those questions!! That’s why I am here!

See you next week!!

Happy Stamping!

Product List

We are doing new and fun things over on Facebook!

I’ve taken a leap into the Live Stream world with a monthly card class. I will have video recordings uploaded to YouTube and will have them linked in here as well.

Just a few little details about these classes. First and foremost, they are FREE!!

I will provide the measurements and products I use during the classes but the creativity is limitless and you can choose whatever products you would like. There is no right or wrong.

These classes are really just to bring us all together once a month and have some crafty time and relax. The class will be the last Saturday of the Month at 7pm CST and last about an hour.

With that said, I’m always open to suggestions and anything you all might be interested in or a theme you would like to see! Just give me a shout over on my social media pages and let me know!

Our next class is Halloween Themed and will be using Stampin’ Up! Spooky Sweet Suite Collection. See you Saturday August 30th @ 7PM (CST)!

If you have any questions please reach out to me.

Happy Stamping!!

My Favorite Stampin Tools

1.Take Your Pick
144107s So many uses and attachments for this little tool that makes crafting so much easier! I have 3 currently in my tools drawer!
2.Stampin’ Glass Mat Studio (Imperial)
163987s This glass mat is amazing! I love that you can write on it, stamp on it and use it to line up paper. Easy to use and super easy to clean up when you’re all done!
3.Simply Scored
122334s The Simply Scored is in my top 5 because it make scoring easy when you’re doing a bunch of scoring at once or intricate score marks for a fold. Also saves you from cutting when wanting to score! The diagonal board is also super helpful when doing scores for envelopes and boxes.
4.Blending Brushes
153611s Oh my blending brushes. These little fellows are a blessing when it comes to adding color and making scenes! I could write an entire book on why you should have these in your tool bag!
5.Soft Pastels Assortment
154585s These are a sentimental favorite. I have been using soft pastels in art work since high school. They are a unique color tool that believe it or not has a lot of different uses and color techniques. If you want to explore coloring then grab a set of these!
